THREE separate psychiatric reports were carried out into the mental health of Jonathan Limani before he was charged with manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.
The 34-year-old, who was sentenced to a minimum of 19 years at Oxford Crown Court on Monday for beheading Christopher Varian with a cheese knife at The Oxfordshire Golf Club, initially faced trial for murder.
He was eventually sentenced for manslaughter.
Police said the Crown Prosecution Service had decided no properly directed jury would be able to be sure that Limani was guilty of the full offence of murder on the basis of the psychiatric reports.
