I READ with interest the letter from Alan Spence about the dangerous parking in Old Marston (Oxford Mail ViewPoints, March 12). May I ask Alan if he filled in the parking survey form which was sent out to every household in Old Marston with the January issue of the Marston Times?
Apparently, out of 1,500 survey forms sent out, just over 100 were returned to the parish council.
I agree with him about the lack of Pcso presence in day times during the week when the parking problem occurs. I have spoken to two Pcsos and they told me their shift patterns prevent them from policing the estate during weekdays.
I have in the past contacted the police non-emergency number to report dangerously parked vehicles but very little, if anything, has been done.
Alan speaks of the limited parking in parts of both Rippington and Mortimer Drives. It has got rid of a very dangerous situation there but unfortunately pushed the problem further along.
When the parish council has examined the returned survey forms, I understand there may be a meeting with the county council to debate the issue and perhaps to resolve the problem.
Hopefully it will be an open meeting, where all who are concerned can air their views.
