THE family of restaurant manager Christopher Varian last night expressed their anger that his killer was allowed into Britain to work.

In a statement, father Nigel Varian said: “Chris was killed in the most barbaric manner by a work colleague while doing his job.

“The killer was a Kosovan-Albanian with a Swedish passport who had been in the UK less than three weeks.

“There has never been any doubt of the killer’s guilt since he was arrested at the scene after brutally beheading Chris.

“Yet, we have been subjected to 20 months of endless abortive hearings and three trial postponements.

“During all this we have been suffering daily torture from the visions of the horrible death this man inflicted on our son.

“Our pain is still raw. Our family and our lives will never be the same again.

“We strongly believe that there was a catalogue of errors that led to this man, Limani, living and working in the UK under the guise of a normal human being.

“Truth is, he had a five-year history of psychotic violent behaviour. He had at least twice been sectioned in Sweden.

“He had a criminal record in Switzerland and had been arrested numerous times in Sweden.

“And yet a Swedish employment agency recommended him for the position of waiter at The Oxfordshire Golf Club. How can this have happened?

“We are emotionally exhausted. We are still very angry.”
