OXON: Transport firms are worried about plans to tempt private companies into funding Britain’s motorway and trunk road network.
Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron yesterday called for a radical shake-up of ownership in a bid to encourage investors to fund desperately-needed upgrades to the ageing network.
Mark Nolan of Middleton Stoney-based Nolan Oils, which runs five oil tankers around the county, said: “If it involves introducing tolls on motorways, I am worried that more traffic will be forced onto smaller roads.”
