A TOTAL of £2,106 was raised at the Lord Mayor of Oxford’s charity civic dinner this month.
Elise Benjamin, the city’s first Green councillor to hold the office, held the dinner to raise money for her two chosen charities – Donnington Doorstep Family Centre and People and Planet. All the food for the event on Friday, March 9 was sourced from Oxfordshire, making it the city’s first low-carbon civic dinner.
Ms Benjamin said: “I am delighted with the amount of money we have raised for my two chosen charities.”
The Donnington Doorstep family centre for children aims to provide a welcoming drop-in environment for people with young children.
People and Planet is a student network campaigning to end world poverty and protect the environment.
