ANDREW McLean’s letter to the Oxford Mail highlights the problems on the A34 and rightly so.
He admitted he does not know what could solve the problem and asked if anyone else does.
I feel the best answer is a new motorway from the M40 at Wendlebury to the M4 at Chieveley.
Widening the old A34 would only cause further disruption for very little advantage.
The new motorway could be built west of Oxford and travel over the Downs.
My idea is a pipedream as in this present climate, priorities are loaded in favour of the environment.
If the present mayhem on the A34 could be resolved, it would ease congestion and aid industry and travel, improve Oxfordshire quality of life – and most important of all, save lives.
As long as people are more concerned about squirrels and newts and so on, progress will be stifled.
