More than 1,200 people visited a bazaar at Oxford Brooks University on Saturday to mark the end of a fortnight of Oxfordshire Science Festival fun.

Youngsters chomped on treats to learn why some go crunch and performed CPR on dummies. Peter Wyton helped youngsters pen verse about their findings.

Wallingford School pupil Jake Hardiman, 14, handled insects. He said: “The millipede was prickly – I’ve never done anything like it before.”

George Wyburn, six, was shown fruit, sand and pollen under the microscope by PhD student Alessandra Rocchetti. She said: “We want to show how amazing science can be.”
