A 33-year-old man was treated for head injuries after being beaten with a brick in Didcot in the early hours of today.
The man was assaulted in an alleyway off Market Place, behind Wilkinsons, sometime between 3.15am and 3.30am.
He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment to his injuries which required stitches.
Det Sgt Darren Cartwright said: “The investigation is at an early stage and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.
"We believe the assailant was a black man, but there is no further description at this stage.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or has any other information which may assist us with our investigation.”
