ON behalf of the Blackbird Leys Parish Council, we would like to comment on Mr Clarke’s letter (March 14).
We have had only those who objected, ie the Pegasus 14 representative (Town Green) and a resident from Overmead Green, come to the parish council to voice their objection to the closure of Blackbird Leys pool and to the proposed siting of the of the new pool on Pegasus Road.
The Save Temple Cowley Pool campaigners tried to gatecrash the meeting but soon left, after being told it was not up for discussion that evening.
We listened to the resident from Overmead Green on his view of the closure and his views were duly noted.
The Pegasus 14’s representative also came to the forum meeting to express their concerns with the site plan.
We believe these are the only residents, along with Cllr Craft who backs the Pegasus 14, who have objected to the siting of the new pool, and not the actual pool itself, in Pegasus Road.
We believe if a poll were taken it would return a stunning yes vote for the new pool from the residents here, so enough of the ‘they don’t want the pool’ comments.
The parish council will do all it can to ensure that items such as parking will be fully addressed so residents don’t have to put up with problems of car owners parking selfishly near the the site and so on.
BRIAN LESTER, Parish Council vice-chairman, Pegasus Road, Blackbird Leys
