WOULD-BE volunteers are being invited to attend an event to hear how they can make a difference in Oxford.
The Volunteering Fair will take place on Tuesday, March 27, at Oxford Town Hall, in St Aldate’s, from 3pm until 6pm, with the aim of connecting new volunteers with community and voluntary groups. Visitors can hear how lending a helping hand can lead to a better CV and help improve their prospects for training and paid employment.
The event is also open to groups wanting to showcase their work and recruit new volunteers, or find out about funding and other potential sources of support for projects.
Community and voluntary groups are invited to have a stall at the event, hosted by Oxford City Council, free of charge.
Space is limited so groups should book their stall as soon as possible by calling 01865 252828 or sending an email request to communities@oxford.gov.uk.
Antonia Bance, the council’s executive member for stronger communities, said: “These events are fantastic for people to get involved and show them how volunteering can benefit the community they live in.
“There should be a good cross-section of groups at the event to offer help and advice.”
