LABOUR’s blanket campaign against Controlled Parking Zones (John Tanner's letter, March 15) ignores the wishes of residents.
After leafletting every house in each of the three proposed zones, Green councillors arranged three separate meetings – one for each zone.
These were well attended and reflected the diversity of the area.
At the meetings for the Magdalen Road North and Divinity Road zones, residents were overwhelming in favour of a CPZ. At the third meeting, for Magdalen Road South, views were more mixed, with the majority against the proposals.
I chaired two of these meetings (for Magdalen Road North and Divinity Road), which no Labour councillors bothered to attend.
The council needs to consider the views of residents and not a handful of Labour anti-CPZ campaigners.
