Wardrobes across Oxfordshire have been raided for a forthcoming community exhibition at Oxford Town Hall.
Community groups have contributed ideas for exhibits in the Head Over Heels display in the St Aldate’s venue starting on March 24 and running until June 3.
Curator Aimee Payton, pictured, said: “The exhibition is sort of a response to hats and shoes, why we wear them, what they mean to the person wearing them, what they mean to the wider world.
“Community groups have responded to those ideas – young carers working with the early intervention service have got involved, we have a group working with Restore the mental health charity, and an art group at the Museum of Oxford. The reminiscence group at Oxford Museum to help people remember things about Oxford has also been involved.”
All the groups have contributed to the exhibition, which will be followed by a second exhibition of historic hats and boots at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock from June 16.
Victorian bonnets and 1920s shoes will be among the items on display.
