CONGRATULATIONS to Oxford’s family doctors for speaking out against the disastrous Health and Social Care Bill.
They will inherit a fractured health service facing big cuts and they will be ‘advised’ by an exceptionally powerful, probably outsourced, Commissioning Support Service.
As the parliamentary vote approaches, Unison has approached both local MPs. From one, Andrew Smith, we have had helpful, probing, parliamentary questions. From the other, Nicola Blackwood, we have seen a refusal to meet with health staff even when they live in her constituency.
The Health Bill, as our local doctors have said, is about the destruction of the NHS – and it seems Ms Blackwood wishes to plunge the knife in with minimum publicity.
