City councillors have refused planning permission for a block of student flats in West Oxford.
Plans for 100 student flats in Innovation House in Mill Street were thrown out by the West Area Planning Committee tonight.
The conversion was rejected because it would reduce business accommodation in the area.
Residents had objected to the proposals because of the number of students it would bring to the street.
At the same meeting plans to convert derelict Grantham House in Jericho into flats were deferred for further negotiation on whether the developer should contribute to local infrastructure.
