TRAIN services between Oxford, Didcot and London are running again after being suspended this morning due to a lineside fire at Hinskey.
Firefighters were called at 10.15am to Hinksey Yard, off Abingdon Road.
They asked for trains to be halted and set up a 150m cordon around the area of the fire because of fears that acetylene gas cylinders in the yard could explode. No homes were evacuated.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Gemma Watts said: “The fire service is monitoring the cylinders hourly to see if the temperature decreases or increases.”
Replacement bus services were put on between Oxford and Didcot Parkway due to the suspension of First Great Western and CrossCountry services.
With trains and crews being out of position because of the line closure, disruption is expected to last into the afternoon.

Chiltern Railways is accepting FGW and CrossCountry tickets between Oxfordshire stations and London Marylebone.
