A MAN was arrested and three others were ejected from Forest Green Rover's football ground after trouble broke out during the game against Oxford United on Friday night.
Police said the 3,500 crowd - around 2,000 of whom were Oxford fans - were well behaved throughout the majority of the match which ended with United winning 5-1.
But an incident broke out towards the end and one man was arrested while three others were thrown out of the ground in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.
All were Oxford United supporters.
As a precaution, police insisted on Forest Green supporters remaining inside the ground until the Oxford fans had left.
Police said the decision was taken on safety grounds and confirmed that no trouble had been reported in the town following the match.
Extra security had been laid on for the match because Gloucestershire Police believed "third party agitators" - not linked with Oxford or Forest Green supporters - had been planning trouble.
