A BREWERY run by a Benson couple has launched a limited edition beer to support injured airforce staff at RAF Benson and their families.
Chris and Vanessa Hearn run Loddon Brewery from a converted barn at Dunsden near Sonning Common.
They visited the base to launch the new beer – called Founders Golden in recognition of the forthcoming RAF Benevolent Fund Founders Day on Sunday, April 1. The tipple is now being sold at RAF Benson to promote and support the welfare fund.
The link-up with the brewery was the idea of the fund’s champion at the base, Squadron Leader Steve McCann, who admits he enjoys the occasional pint of Loddon beer.
He said the beer promotion would be “an excellent way of promoting Founder’s Day at RAF Benson”.
Mrs Hearn said: “Having lived in Benson for the past 24 years, we have always felt an affinity with the base. We have supplied our beer to the base for a number of years now, and when offered, we jumped at the chance to help raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
“It’s a fantastic cause and we hope the beer will be enjoyed by many, and raise a few pounds for the fund.”
For every 72 pints bought by the base, a donation of £10 is being made by the brewery to the benevolent fund.
