A MAN and a woman from Oxfordshire have been arrested by detectives investigating phone hacking.
The woman, who is 43, is being questioned at an Oxfordshire police station after being arrested at her home on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by police.
A 49-year-old man was arrested at his home address in Oxfordshire and is being interviewed at a Buckinghamshire police station.
Officers said the four other men - aged 39, 46, 38 and 48 - were arrested in raids in Hampshire, west London, Hertfordshire and east London.
A Scotland Yard statement said: "The co-ordinated arrests were made between approximately 5am and 7am this morning by officers from Operation Weeting, the inquiry into the phone hacking of voicemail boxes.
"All six - five men and one woman - were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1977.
"A number of addresses connected to the arrests are being searched. Today's operation follows consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service."
