CHILDREN explored the ancient world of India by taking part in arts and crafts activities at the Ashmolean.
The Oxford museum has a new exhibition of paintings of India’s Mughal period between 1550 and 1850.
To make it more accessible and interesting to children, the museum put on with Mughal games and gave younsters the chance to create artwork inspired by that period of history.
Sairah Yousef, 27, of Cowley, visited the exhibition with her 23-month-old son, Rehan, who made a hat with a snake design.
She said: “The exhibition was very interesting. Rehan was a little young to understand, but he did look at the different pictures, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
“But Rehan likes colouring in and he enjoyed the activities, which make the museum much more interesting for children.
“When I was little and we used to go to the museum and there were never these kinds of activities available.”
