PLANS for 74 student rooms on a residential street in West Oxford will be scrutinised at a planning inquiry.
The proposed three-storey block for land at the back of Mill Street was rejected by Oxford City Council in July last year.
It had originally been given permission, but councillors called in the application and it was unanimously rejected at a meeting of the planning review committee.
Developers WE Black have now appealed to the Secretary of State and the final decision rests with the Planning Inspectorate.
A planning inspector will review the scheme at Oxford Town Hall, St Aldate’s at 10am on Thursday, April 19.
Interested members of the public can attend the hearing and put across their views.
Mill Street residents have branded the plans “ridiculous”.
Speaking to the Oxford Mail last year, resident Amanda Whiting said: “The development was a ridiculous idea and was completely in the wrong place.
“It’s a normal Victorian street, and we would have had a massive monolithic structure which would not have been in keeping with the rest of the street.”
