A Long Meritorious Award was given to Joy Blake, from Faringdon.
A member of the Royal British Legion, in the three years to September last year, Mrs Blake, pictured, organised 107 repatriation services in Faringdon, which saw people gathering at Folly Hill to honour the passing cortege of 232 fallen service personnel.
Mrs Blake still coordinates the attendance of Faringdon people at repatriations now held in Carterton and RAF Brize Norton. Alongside this, she plays the organ at All Saints’ Church in Faringdon, which she has done for the past 35 years, as well as working as secretary of the local branch of the British Heart Foundation.
