A MAN accused of rape yesterday told jurors the sex was consensual.
Waad Namek took the stand at Oxford Crown Court on day three of his trial.
The 36-year-old denies two counts of raping a Romanian woman at his home in October 2010.
He initially told police in two separate interviews there had been no sexual contact with the woman at all.
But explaining his change of story he said yesterday: “Sorry, I was scared. I (feared) losing my kids.”
He also added that a policeman and the solicitor present at the interview were laughing at him.
Namek, of Owens Way, Cowley, said the alleged victim started touching his hand and undressed herself before the pair had sex.
He said a similar chain of events happened the following morning.
The Iraq-born satellite-TV repairman said: “I’m telling the truth. She started it, she fancied me.”
Asked if he would normally have sex with someone he barely knew, he added: “It was an exception. I couldn’t help myself.”
Jurors began deliberating yesterday afternoon and are expected to return verdicts today.
