What a wonderful letter by Dermot R Carroll in Viewpoint (Monday, March 5).

I thank him for his courage in speaking out and I support him wholeheartedly.

In my lifetime I have met acclaimed scientists who have also been devoted Christians and what an inspiration their lives have been.

I am glad not to be in Richard Dawkins’ shoes. I feel sorry for him and wish he could know the God I know.

You are right, Mr Carroll, a time will come and he will have a shock when he gives an account of himself to the very God he claims does not exist.

Thankfully, God will still exist long after Mr Dawkins has gone.
