Staff and students at Gosford Hill School, Kidlington, are celebrating after the school was praised by Ofsted.
The school, which has 894 pupils, jumped from ‘satisfactory’ rating in 2009 to good in every aspect following an inspection last month.
Headteacher Dr Stephen Bizley said: “We’re delighted.
“It’s not something that happened overnight, it is something we have all been striving for.”
Inspectors pointed to a rising trend in outcomes, and said progress was rapidly improving.
Dr Bizley said a ‘vertical’ house system, with tutor groups including children of all ages, and weekly academic tutoring had made a big impact.
In his report, inspector John Daniell said: “There has been a significant increase in teaching and satisfactory teachers have become good through the effective use of coaching.”
Dr Bizley said the school would now focus on improving existing community links and working towards becoming an outstanding school.
