TELEPHONE company BT is investigating whether one of its contractors was behind the misspelling of the word ‘school’ on road markings outside an Oxford primary.
Yesterday the Oxford Mail reported that the word had been spelt ‘schoul’ in yellow paint outside Wolvercote Primary School.
Oxfordshire County Council spokesman Paul Smith yesterday said BT was responsible for the error after digging up the road some two months ago. He also said Oxford City Council was responsible for the road, but added: “We’ve told BT they need to sort out the problem.”
BT spokesman Emma Littlejohn said the firm was waiting to hear whether or not its contractors were responsible.
She said: “BT has asked its contractors to investigate whether this work was carried out by them on our behalf.”
The city council did not respond to a request for a comment.
