AN ANTISOCIAL tenant has been threatened with arrest after repeatedly abusing his neighbours.
Roy Willis, 29, of the Tithe Farm Estate, in South Abingdon, was taken to court by Sovereign Housing Association after verbally abusing and threatening residents and visitors.
Oxford County Court issued an injunction against him on Monday, February 27, banning him from using or threatening violence against residents or visitors.
The order is in force until August 28 and Mr Willis could be arrested if he breaches it.
The housing association said Mr Willis, who has lived at the property since November, had been regularly disturbing neighbours.
He often played loud music or made so much noise it could be heard from outside.
Kerry Thomas, antisocial behaviour officer for Sovereign, said: “We first received complaints about his behaviour in mid-December, and advised him that it was in breach of his tenancy agreement.
“In the end we had no option but to seek this injunction.”
She added: “Sovereign’s intention is to foster strong, cohesive communities and we will not tolerate this kind of antisocial behaviour.
“We are pleased that, through effective coordination with partner agencies, we have obtained this injunction very quickly.
“We trust that this will have a positive impact on the lives of residents who have had to endure this tenant’s unacceptable conduct for the past few months.
“We would like to commend the witnesses who came forward to give evidence in this case.”
Last July the housing association repossessed a home in Thames View after persistent antisocial behaviour from tenant Louisa Haynes.
A judge also granted an injunction against Daniel Webb, her partner, ordering him to stay away from the Thames View area for nine months.
Marilyn Badcock, Vale of White Horse District Council member for Ock Meadow, added: “Anti-social behaviour is something we need to clamp down on whenever possible.
“Everybody has neighbours and we all have to live together on the same estates and roads.”
