A MOTHER and son team have published their first book of quirky children’s poems.
Diana Moore has written stories, poems and plays throughout her adult life, and decided she wanted to publish some of her ditties.
To keep the budget down she roped in her graphic designer son Nicholas to create the illustrations for A Fishy Coat Tale and Other Poems, a self published book.
Mother-of-two Mrs Moore, 55, of Horton-cum-Studley, near Oxford, said: “Holding the finished product is a wonderful feeling.
“The process is a bit like giving birth with less physical discomfort but a much slower, longer labour.
“I was working in the schools and the enthusiastic responses from both the children and teachers inspired me to create the book.
“Plus, I had great support from my graphic designer son, Nick, who helped with the illustrations.”
Mrs Moore taught writing workshops in St Philip and St James School, Oxford.
The book includes 12 of her favourite poems, including tales about Molly the Dog and a jackdaw.
Mrs Moore, who works part-time for a lettings agency, said: “I had 30 to 40 poems all under different headings.
“Some came very quickly but others needed lots of tweaking.” For more information view diana-moore.com
