Sir – Whether one is a local commuter queuing through Hanborough and Bladon every day, a resident in one of the two villages, or both, the congested state of the A4095 is too urgent a problem to ignore (Leader, March 1).
Perhaps even more than the rail scheme you advocate, a free-flowing junction is needed between the A34 and A40.
Data gathered by Oxfordshire County Council show that long distance HGVs short cut along the A4095 through Bladon, presumably to avoid congestion at the Woodstock Road roundabout. Bladon has no weight restriction. Lorries frequently meet head to head in the village street, where they have to mount the pavements to pass, with frustration and danger to local users and residents, whether in cars, walking or cycling.
