THE artistic creations of a vicar who retired to Oxford have gone on show in an art shop in the city centre.
Toddy Hoare’s work, which is based on biblical and theological themes, is being displayed at the Broad Canvas shop in Broad Street.
Rev Hoare, 64, from Holton, said: “My object is to make people think and reflect on their life and faith from a theological perspective.”
Although he has only been living in the county for five years, Rev Hoare trained in Oxford and served at the Church of the Holy Family in Blackbird Leys for a year in 1979.
He is married to Liz, who is also a reverend and works at Wycliffe Hall, a theological college. Before being ordained he served with 15th/19th Kings Royal Hussars.
Ten per cent of the profits from the sale of his work will be divided between four charities – Magdalen College School, Wycliffe Hall, St Mary’s University Church, and Centrepoint, a charity for the homeless.
