SPRING was celebrated as Barracks Lane Community Garden, in East Oxford, opened for the season with a seed swapping event.
Families enjoyed the sunshine on Saturday as experts introduced youngsters to planting and flowers, while keen gardeners traded seeds.
Jason Warner and his six-year-old daughter Grace, a pupil at John Henry Newman School, both enjoyed the day.
Mr Warner said: “They encouraged everyone in the local community to come along and bring any seeds they hadn’t used.
“There was a lot of knowledge floating around. If you didn’t know how to garden it was the place to be.” Grace got her hands dirty, enjoying a spot of seed planting with other youngsters.
“She learned how to make paper plant pots and was looking at how seeds germinate,” Mr Warner said.
