RECENT correspondence regarding city councillor John Tanner’s statement that he would like to see a big investment in the provision of public lavatories in Oxford reminded me that, in the same day’s The Issue column in the Oxford Mail (February 20), the same councillor Tanner declared himself to be totally against the monarchy.
I feel obliged to comment that he definitely needs to provide better toilet facilities in Oxford, as I am sure that the vast majority of visitors to the city – from both the United Kingdom and overseas – are great admirers of the Royal family and his disloyal comments are likely to produce considerable bouts of loose bowels among those visitors.
