Football bosses will today be assessing damage to the Kassam Stadium after trouble during the game against Swindon Town.

Fans ripped up seats and threw them at rival supporters during Saturday’s match, which Oxford won 2-0.

Police wearing protective clothing were called in to help stewards as some fans attempted to breach the segregated area between the different supporters.

Pipes were also ripped out of one of the toilet areas, causing flooding.

A total of 13 arrests were made following the League Two match, which was watched by 11,825 fans.

Eight people were released on bail until early April for wheile enquiries continue. The other five were de-arrested.

Ch Insp Olly Wright said: “Sadly, there were was a small minority of people who let themselves and their team down by engaging in violent or disruptive behaviour.”

Both before and after the match there were incidents involving supporters on coaches.

A bus carrying Swindon fans had to stop after a door was forced open and passengers began throwing “debris” from the vehicle as Oxford supporters tried to reach it.

Then after the game another Swindon coach was stopped by police on the B480 as fans on board again threw objects at motorists
