WALKERS can pick up the pace over the coming months.
They are being invited to take part in a challenge which will allow them to walk a marathon.
With Oxford Health Walks they will be able to choose whether to walk 10km, a half marathon or a full marathon and then build up to walking that distance.
Bridget Doole, walk leader, said: “With all the exciting plans to celebrate the Olympics coming to London we wanted to do something to be a part of it all.
“We have a wonderfully committed group of walkers and thought this challenge would inspire them as well as new walkers to get out walking.
“We are looking forward to the challenge and hope lots of people come and join us each week.”
Health Walks take place on a Wednesday morning from Hinksey Park and on Fridays from Bury Knowle Park.
They are designed for those starting or returning to gentle exercise.
The challenge is due to start today and will run until Friday, July 13.
