SIBLINGS Joy, Pam and Chrissy Kellaway felt their worlds come crashing down when sister Ann was diagnosed with cancer last year.

But on Saturday, May 19, they will all take part in the Breast Cancer Care Pink Ribbbonwalk at Blenheim Palace and show there is strength – and the power to beat cancer – in numbers.

Joy, 52, from Watlington, explained: “Myself, Pam and Chrissy will be doing the 10-mile route of the Ribbonwalk and will hopefully be joined for some part of it by Ann.

“We have all just been through a terrible time. But thanks to Breast Cancer Care’s help and support, we have come out the other side and now we want to show our appreciation by raising as much money for the charity as we can.”

Joy, who is an operations and marketing manager for a beauty company in Aylesbury, explained how Ann found a lump in her breast last January.

“She thought it was just a cyst but it turned out to be stage three breast cancer and we all felt our worlds fall apart,” Joy continued.

“We were stunned. There was no history of breast cancer in our family, but all of a sudden she was fighting cancer and we, her sisters, were faced by the possibility of losing someone we loved.”

Ann, who is 47 and lives in Cardiff, had a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

“Breast Cancer Care did so much, even helping Ann to find a nice way to tie a headscarf when she lost her hair.

“They gave her her dignity back and helped her feel she could face the world.”

The sisters hope to raise as much as £1,000 through sponsorship.

Registration for the Breast Cancer Care Ribbonwalk costs £30, with a fundraising target of £175.
