I felt I had to reply to the excellent letter from Jo Alderhouse (Oxford Mail, September 23).

I have lived in Lime Walk in Headington, Oxford, for more than 40 years and have been a regular walker of Warneford Meadow with dogs and children.

I have seen so many changes and the meadow is now much smaller. I only hope we can save what is left.

I can't believe that planners want to build yet more accommodation for 2,000 students.

We have just received notice that they want to accommodate more than 360 students on the Dorset House site at the end of our road.

The planners have allowed only four car parking spaces in these plans. Where do they expect people to park their cars?

We also have received plans for more buildings on the old postal sorting offices. There must be 50 per cent or more students occupying houses in this area, all with unkempt gardens and obscure covering over the windows.

We suffer late night parties and loud music. I think we have our fair share.

Are these planners thinking of our pubs, cafs and facilities that will be flooded to the extent that there will be nothing left for the families living in Headington?

I can see the future will be students only in Headington and we will be forced to live elsewhere. We can't take any more development in this area as the traffic is diabolical.

I have waited 15 minutes just to get out of my road, only to queue again once joining the main road.

Please, planners, give Headington a rest from more new buildings and leave us and our grandchildren a meadow to enjoy.
