Sir, On September 15 you reported that several Herschel Crescent residents, and councillor Gill Sanders, had held a protest because there is no longer a direct bus service between Herschel Crescent, Littlemore and Donnington Health Centre on the Iffley Road.
Since June 4, a new timetable has been in operation on the No 16 service. Many people have a better service than before, with Minchery Farm getting three buses an hour to Cowley Centre (previously two) and Herschel Crescent getting two buses an hour (previously one). Unfortunately the direct link from Herschel Crescent to the Iffley Road and city centre no longer runs - previously it was hourly. There is an hourly service from Minchery Farm to the city centre.
Bus Users UK wishes to help those on Herschel Crescent, as we wish to help all bus users. Before we suggest to the county council that the old timetable is re-instated however, we would like to make sure that we take the views of all No 16 passengers into account. We would be grateful if your readers were able to contact us with the answers to the following questions: 1: If you live on the Minchery Farm loop, would you rather see three buses an hour to Cowley Centre or two to the city centre?
2: If you live in Herschel Crescent, would you rather see two buses an hour to Cowley Centre or one to the city centre, past Donnington Health Centre and over Donnington Bridge?
You can contact Bus Users UK on noambleicher@hotmail.com or at 5 School Place, Oxford OX1 4RG.
