Sir, We don't all run cars, you know. Why should it be assumed that we do? We have our reasons. It may be poverty, it may be that we have had relatives killed by the beastly things. It may be that we consider them in every respect a blight on the environment, (which they certainly are) and unjustifiable except in cases of necessity. It may be for all these reasons.
On the whole, those of us who don't drive cars, don't go round reminding people that we are better citizens, even if it's true. But at the same time, we don't see why we should be penalised.
We don't necessarily want to spend all our evenings at home. We may have an interest in the theatre or in music (Oxford has so much to offer), or want to attend meetings in the evening outside our particular village. But at present none of these things are possible because there is no bus back after 6.15pm.
Stagecoach run an excellent service during the day. If they would put on just one judiciously timed (post-theatre) bus back from Oxford - not necessarily every evening, but perhaps just the latter part of the week - what a difference that would make. Brighten our lives amazingly. In fact, just a connection from Woodstock might suffice, as long as it was reliable.
