WOODEATON Manor School was shut yesterday after the village's water supply was cut off.
About 600 buildings were affected in Woodeaton and Noke, from about 4pm on Sunday.
The school was not affected until about 3pm on Monday.
Joanna Goodfellow, 43, of Woodeaton, said: "We were washing up at about 8pm on Sunday and the water went off, but it came back on by the time we went to bed."
School headteacher Anne Pearce said: "Thames Water worked hard yesterday and we had water back on by 3pm."
Thames Water spokesman Ross Edwards said the weekend's storms had damaged water pumps which stopped re-filling Noke Reservoir.
He said: "Some properties may have continued to experience pressure problems for a short while after, caused by air in the pipes.
"Thames Water would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
