Kidlington have them Rocking and Rowland.
Aarron Rowland bagged a hat-trick as Kidlington ran riot in two devastating spells either side of half-time to dump Chalgrove out of the cup.
The two league matches between the teams had been close, with a draw and a narrow hard-fought 2-0 victory for Kidlington, so there was little indication of what was to come when we had ten minutes deadlock, followed by Chalgrove opening the scoring with a good hit from outside the box from Callum Coates.
This only spurred the visitors into action however, and after Ben Stewart had hit the bar, they hit 4 goals in quick succession. Rowland's first and second both followed good work from Luca Sykes on the right. Ethan Couling blasted the third from distance before converting a corner just before half time for Kidlington's fourth.
There was no let up after half time. Good work from Rowland and Sykes set up substitute Thomas Anderson, who despite having only been on the pitch for a minute, battled bravely past a defender before calmly slotting home for Kidlington's fifth. Sykes got the sixth with a fine solo effort, before a pass from Anderson saw Rowland again finish clinically to complete an excellent hat-trick. Jamie Slevin battled well to score Kidlington's eighth, before skipper Callum Rolfe got number nine with another fine effort from distance.
Chalgrove to their credit kept battling and had the last word, with Callum Coates finishing the morning's goal rush with his second of the match. With the game effectively won, Kidlington kept pushing forward to try to get number 10, leaving Chalgrove several chances on the counter-attack, but nearly all floundered on the rocks of Kidlington's outstanding centre back pairing of Marcus Tranter and Abu Yillah, the latter of whom made 2 excellent goal-saving tackles in the last few minutes.
So an excellent victory for Kidlington, who after this performance will look forward to the next round of the cup against Radley with confidence.
