A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been told he will be jailed after he was convicted of a bottle attack outside a pub.
Marcus Dawson was unanimously convicted by jurors at Oxford Crown Court yesterday of wounding with intent and common assault. The incidents occurred on December 11, 2010, outside the Wallingford Arms pub in Broadway, Didcot.
Paul Andrews suffered serious injuries while fellow victim Mark Goodenough was also attacked by Dawson.
In summing up the case, Judge Anthony King said Mr Andrews’ injuries “have been described as not in fact life-threatening but very close indeed”.
He suffered injuries to his face, hands and chest. Jurors returned their verdicts within two hours following a two-and-a-half-day trial.
Judge King remanded Dawson, of Newlands Avenue, Didcot, in custody until sentencing on February 3.
He told him: “A custodial sentence is inevitable.”
