A TEENAGER robbed a young woman at knifepoint before pulling the blade on a police support officer just a day after racially abusing another man.

Lewis Heaver was joined in the robbery by Michael Aspinall as the pair approached Bruna Chiaratti and her friend, who was visiting Oxford from Brazil, in East Oxford’s Florence Park.

Both were jailed for 39 months at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The incident took place on August 17, a day after 18-year-old Heaver had racially abused Waqir Latif in nearby Cricket Road.

The court heard Mr Latif is the cousin of Sandeep Kumar, who it was reported last year attacked Heaver with a hammer in the street.

Prosecutor Paul Harrison said 20-year-old Aspinall, of Lizmans Court, Cowley, instigated the robbery by asking Miss Chiaratti for the time before grabbing her BlackBerry, which she refused to relinquish.

Heaver, of Hornbeam Drive, Greater Leys, then produced the knife causing the victim to hand over the phone. Moments later he grabbed her bag containing £200.

When PCSO Kaypuzain, who was passing the scene on a bike patrol, gave chase Heaver brandished the large bread-type knife and yelled “****ing get away”.

Aspinall admitted robbery while his co-defendant admitted racially aggravated fear or provocation of violence, causing fear or provoking violence, having an offensive weapon and robbery.
