RIP Democracy - Mitchell and Robertson killed you and laid you to rest at 2pm on September 19, 2006.
As we all know, the residents of Oxford rejected outright the proposed street charges for parking in the area they live in.
Did councillors listen? Of course not.
They had promised their electors free parking in the evening and weekends, so someone has to pay the shortfall.
They quote other towns paying the charge, but it is only two or three streets in the centre.
David Cameron's chance of a Tory seat at the next election was slim.
Now I would say it has all but vanished, thanks to his pals, and that from one who has always voted Tory.
