The Internet auction for an Oxford Loyal wristband was ended early on Wednesday as bidding reached five times the band's value.
The Oxford Mail and Oxford United joined forces to produce the £1 wristbands so loyal fans could show their true colours, with the profits going to charity.
They were quickly sold out and one enterprising punter decided to auction one on eBay. Bidding was opened at £1 but quickly leapt to £5 after yesterday's Oxford Mail's story on it.
The auction was due to finish on Sunday, but the seller - whose online identification name is locky73 - ended bidding early without giving an explanation.
