2004 Hugel Les Fleurs d'Alsace: Pale, elegant and aromatic, this fantastic Alsace white is fresh, crisp and clean with balanced flavours of grapefruit, lime and citrus and a light floral character and just a hint of sweetness. Superb on its own or with salads and shellfish.
2004 Val de Clara Tinto: A thoroughly modern and entirely more-ish Portuguese red which sends layers of ripe, mulberries, damsons and raspberries coursing around your tongue. The mouthfeel is fleshy, exuberant and balanced.
2003 Inurrieta Sur: A modern Spanish master from Navarra with tremendous colour, a ripe spicy nose and a palate loaded with smoky blackberry fruit, tannin, tar and spices. Generous to a fault, it's gutsy and full-bodied with a standing-ovation finish.
2005 Pinot Grigio, Cantina di Custoza: Unlike most insipid Italian Pinto Grigios, this has real character and flavour which gently seduces your palate with some sexily sweet pear, citrus and almond fruit.
