Defending Ladies Premier Section champions Florence Park Community Centre A were given a mighty fright by underdogs Red Lion before securing a narrow 5-4 home victory.
It looked plain-sailing for Park as they took the opening game with Angie Godfrey’s victory against Lorraine Winstone.
However, Red Lion, promoted to Section 1 this season, shocked the hosts by taking a 3-1 lead courtesy of wins from Ali Bateman, Iris Doyle and Tracy Gardiner.
Park fought back to level the match at 3-3 before taking the doubles 2-1 to seal a tense victory.
Nuffield Bar lead the Premier Division after a stunning 8-1 victory against Cherwell Club.
Vikings Social Club A made it five victories out of five after a narrow success away to Gladiators Social Club in Section 2.
The visitors raced into a 4-0 lead through Chris Gerkin, Pat Davies, Debbie Stevens and Pauline Bloomfield.
Gladiators hit back with wins from Tina Walton and Lydia Harper.
But Vikings would not be denied, and despite losing the pairs 2-1, they held on for a 5-4 win.
Berinsfield Community Centre hit top form for the visit of Donnington Community Centre A in a 7-2 success.
Nuffield Lounge visited Donnington Community Centre C and took the lead through Pat Ireson.
But that proved to be the visitors’ only success as the home side powered their way to an 8-1 victory.
In Section 3, John Radcliffe Hospital Social B charged into a 2-0 lead at Nuffield Lounge B thanks to Dan Lyne and Kim Griffiths.
The home side levelled with wins from Carmel Bellerby and Nicola Bellerby.
But JR hit back to lead 4-2 with victories from Emma Jacobs and Dawn Jacobs and went on to win 6-3.
