POLICE are appealing for information after 17 cars were damaged in a spree of vandalism in the early hours of Sunday.
At about 2.30am a group of four to five men, in their late teens or early twenties, damaged the vehicles in Wantage by breaking their wing-mirrors or snapping and stealing their aerials.
The following damage was recorded:
- Donnington Place - Two cars damaged
- Elizabeth Drive - One aerial snapped and stolen
- St James - Three cars damaged, two aerials stolen (all separate cars)
- Adkin Way - One car damaged, one aerial stolen
- Grove Street - Seven cars damaged.
PC Ben Peach, of the Abingdon Priority Crime team, said: "This was completely senseless vandalism which will cost hundreds of pounds to repair and cause considerable inconvenience to the victims.
"Some local residents were woken by the noise but were unable to give a detailed description. I am determined to catch the people responsible for this before they cause more pointless destruction in Wantage.
"I would ask anyone with any information to contact me urgently at Abingdon police station, via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505."
