OXFORD'S Miss World contestant Eleanor Glynn froze as she sang in the talent competition and is on the verge of going out of the contest.
People in Oxfordshire are now being asked to secure her a place in the final line-up by texting a vote for her.
Miss Glynn, 20, from Sandford-on-Thames, was one of 20 women shortlisted to take part in Friday's talent section at Warsaw Opera House in Poland.
The Miss England winner had high hopes of impressing the judges to win the section and be fast-tracked through to the final 16 on Saturday, but nerves got the better of her and she froze on the night.
"Her voice went quivery, and she was shaking," said Angie Beasley, organiser of Miss England.
"She is very disappointed with herself for allowing nerves to get the better of her but she was up against 19 other talented, beautiful women.
"Apparently, they were all telling her beforehand that she was going to win because she had been singing so well in rehearsals, but when she was being filmed for the competition itself the nerves took over.
"Miss Northern Ireland won the talent round - she managed to hold it together on the night."
Miss Glynn, who sings in a funk band in Oxford called Kilter, was singing her own version of Rainbow's heavy rock classic Since You've Been Gone.
Miss Beasley added: "Eleanor didn't win the beachwear section or sports section either, and I don't think she will win the charity section because one of the girls from the Asia-Pacific has raised more than £1m for charity.
"Her best chance now of getting through to the last 16 is if she gets a large enough number of text votes to impress the judges.
"The judges look at the largest percentage of votes per population and take that into consideration.
"Although Eleanor didn't win the talent section she is still having a ball - she said it has been the experience of a lifetime."
The beauty queen, who won Miss England earlier this year, did not get off to a good start in Miss World when her pink suitcases containing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery, music for the talent show and hairdryer were stolen at the airport.
Her mother Patricia immediately flew out to Poland to take her the essentials she needed for the competition.
Miss Glynn, who works for a medical company in Cowley, has auditioned for the TV show The X-Factor, and this week featured in a photo shoot for Hello! magazine. She is also appearing with other Miss World contestants this week on Challenge TV. Miss Glynn was not available for comment yesterday.
- To get Miss England into the last 16, vote for her by texting MW206 to 83088. Texts cost 50p plus your standard network rate. Lines close on Saturday at midnight.
