PEOPLE in Abingdon are being invited to meet local officers in the Market Place, Abingdon, on Thursday.

The crime prevention exhibition trailer will be set up so visitors can speak to officers and crime prevention advisers and find out information on crime prevention, neighbourhood watch and local policing in the area.

The aim of the event is to help promote greater understanding of the work of Thames Valley Police and has been arranged in conjunction with the new student police officers who will be carrying out training practices throughout the day.

Sgt Dave Metcalfe, who is leading the neighbourhood team, said: "This event will hopefully create closer working relationships between the town's dedicated police team, their partners and the public, including residents and businesses. It is going to be a fun day for both the officers and the visitors."

The event will take place on Thursday from 10am to 4pm.
