Extra oomph for Vauxhall's Vectra VXR models comes with the new 2007 model-year versions.
Power in the latest Vectra VXR 2.8-litre V6 turbo has been boosted from 252 horsepower to 277 horsepower, thanks to a redesigned engine air induction system, modified components and retuned electronic control software. Meanwhile, the Vectra's big brother, the limited-edition VXR500, has had an even more dramatic engine boost. A supercharger helps take the power from 400 horsepower to 495 horsepower.
The £35,995 VXR500 has a sub-five second 0-60 time, and a top speed in excess of 180mph. The Vectra VXR can be ordered from any UK Vauxhall retailer, while the VXR 500 can only be sourced from Greens Vauxhall, in Kent, telephone 01634 246 755.
