I WAS so sad to read in your article on October 15 that teenager Jack Hatton of Carterton has died of lymphoma after being treated for leukaemia.

There should be more highlighting of the causes of such cancers.

A friend of mine, researcher Edward Priestley, survived bone marrow destruction caused by workplace toxic chemicals. His doctors did not think he would survive. His research shows that toxic chemicals, radiation and even some medical drugs can cause aplastic anaemia, leukaemia and other cancers such as lymphoma. Benzene is a proven cause but is widely used in industry.

He tries to avoid chemicals such as benzene, fluoride, pesticides and he eats organic food. Decades later his blood count is normal.

Preventing the disease in the first place would save much suffering.

Our thoughts are with Jack’s family.
